I'm on antidepressants (50mg Sertraline) and up until a few weeks ago they were working fine. However, just recently my mood has darkened and I'm suffering anxiety attacks and periods of bad depression. I'm finding that if I forget to take my antidepressant (which I don't do on purpose!) my mood is better and I don't get the anxiety attacks but I know I can't stop taking them without my doctor's consent. Has anyone else experienced this?

I am on citalopram 20mgs, I haven't forgotten to take one so I can't say on that matter. I find this medication suits me well, they do make me more tired but I can live with that. Maybe the doctor may reduce them for a while to see how u go. How long have u been on 50mgs?

I tried Citalopram, but they made me worse. Glad they're helping you though. I've been on Sertraline since last October and I'm on the same dose now as I was then.

I get more anxious when I,m just due a period. If it carries on the anxiety it may be time to go to your doctor 4 a chat. Sometimes the medication needs checking. If u improve in the meantime it could be hormones to play. Keep a eye on your moods and see if u can work out if there's a trigger, don't forget you've had a big upheaval with the change of carers.

Yes Jo I was thinking that maybe it will make your mood change when it is the time of the month for you,but I would suggest you do have a visit to your doctor and tell him/her just how you have been, perhaps even keeping a day chart on how you feel and the time of day that you feel your lowest!...xxxx

That's a good idea, Twinkle. My moods are all over the place at the moment due to a lot of personal problems, but I'm coping with the help of all my friends on Social Space.

Yes and no disrespect to any of our friends on here Jo as we all,as you do,help each other, but it is a different kettle of fish being at home!....Try and keep a diary, and also a little thought for you Jo,is perhaps also write down for maybe a week, all the food you eat,be it a pasty, full meal or nibbles, just write them down,as a daily page and then write how you have felt that day,and bear in mind food does play a big part in our moods!....xxxxx

I didn't think about the food thing. I will certainly do that.

Yes it does play quite a big part!...I am not saying this happens to you Jo,but just a thought as I write!...If you find that you get a lot of sugar cravings, and you buy choccie and choccie, then the massive input of sugar can make you feel lethargic,so if this should happen to you or anyone who is reading this, then I suggest that you buy some Barley Sugars, and they contain natural sugar your body is craving for,but you wont get the added calories that you get from chocolate!...Just a thought!...

I have to be careful about my sugar intake anyway, Twinkle, as I have Type 2 diabetes.

I do take Metformin twice a day, but I have to confess to not doing my bloods as often as I should. :(

I can understand it being bothersome Jo I really do,but try and get into the habit!..Maybe for a week test before your breakfast, just once in the day, everyday for the week, then before your dinner for a week etc......This will help you to get a picture of when you dip,or go high, and also it would be a great help for your doctor,a picture sort of thing!...Then maybe he will adjust any medication for you depending on the results!..
